Flight:
- Fly to Islamabad or Skardu Airport:
- Book a flight to Islamabad International Airport (ISB) or Skardu Airport (KDU), which are the nearest airports to the region.
- Travel to Skardu:
- If flying to Islamabad, you can either take a domestic flight to Skardu Airport or travel by road to Skardu city.
- From Skardu, continue the journey by road towards Askole, which is the last village accessible by vehicle before starting the trek towards K2 base camp.
Train:
- There are no direct trains to the K2 mountain region, as the area is not connected by rail networks.
Bus:
- Travel to Skardu by Bus:
- From major cities like Islamabad or Gilgit, you can take a long-distance bus to Skardu.
- Buses to Skardu are available from major bus terminals in these cities, but the journey can be long and may involve multiple transfers.
Auto Rickshaw:
- Auto-rickshaws are not a feasible mode of transportation for reaching K2 mountain or the Nanga Parbat region due to the rugged terrain and long distances involved.
Bike/Scooter:
- Biking or scootering to the K2 mountain region is not practical due to the long distances, rugged terrain, and lack of well-defined roads.
Trekking/Hiking:
- Once you reach Askole, you’ll need to trek or hike through the picturesque but challenging terrain of the Karakoram Range to reach the K2 base camp. This trek usually takes several days and requires proper planning, equipment, and guides.
